HAVERHILL ROVERS
1-0
STOWUPLAND FALCONS

Haverhill finished off their pre-season of 2008 with a single goal victory against Metaltec SIL side Stowupland, a Neil Hammond header proving to be the deciding factor.

A header from Stowupland's Joe Wilden from a corner was deflected over off team mate Rob Firman before the hosts' Paul Jenkin had a great opportunity after Cody Frazier's cross was palmed to him by goalkeeper Jaime Ralf, Ralf making up for his error as he put Jenkin's shot behind off his foot.

Marc Abbott missed a chance to beat Ralf early in the second half when he charged down a clearance and touched the ball past the last defender, his volley going just wide of the mark.

The only goal came after 76 minutes following a corner by Abbott, Hammond meeting the ball with a close range diving header that Ralf wasn't able to stop going into the net.

Substitute Ryan Kent and Matt Crawley then combined as Kent put a ball inside the right back for Crawley to latch on to, his effort on goal being fingertipped onto the near right upright.

Jenkin also had a diving header straight at Ralf after a cross by Jamie Challis and Abbott also dragged his shot after a through ball by Joe Harvey wide of goal.
